Part of a nationwide initiative to encourage people to shop and support locally owned businesses in their own community, the Bagnell Dam Strip Association is hosting their Light Up The Strip event for a festive day of shopping, strolling, dining and holiday cheer! New this year is the Holiday Passport Stroll, where area businesses are stamping event passports so that folks who visit several businesses may be entered to win a prize package. Shootout Street Party

Today is the day! The Shootout on the Strip Street Party begins tonight at 5:00 P.M. on the Bagnell Dam Strip. The roadway is closed from School Road to Bagnell Dam until 11:00 P.M. this evening, but a detour route is available for those hoping to pass through the event.

Due to the extreme heat we are experiencing this week, event organizers have stressed that the street party runs from 5:00-10:00 P.M. Participants are encouraged to visit the Ameren lot by crossing the dam and taking Valley Road to the lot for $10 parking and shuttle service.

Attendees will be able to see race teams and power boats participating in this weekend’s boat race while enjoying an open container event. Volunteers with the event will be provide wristbands to those wishing to enjoy the open container portion of the event.
